In 1897, after a visit by Dr. Sousa Martins who considered the place indicated for the treatment of pulmonary diseases, through open-air healing, work began on the construction of the Grande Hotel do Hermínios, in a place called Nave da Areia, at an altitude of about 1500 meters. Thus was born the place today called Penhas da Saúde, where the chalet "Cota 1500" is located
